Dr. Chorney's Team Members


Dr. Chorney enjoys working with students and collaborators who have interests in child health, pain, or medical stress.  She is open to supervising undergraduate and graduate students and medical residents. Sharon Amey

Sharon Amey, MDE -Research Assistant
Sharon completed a Masters of Economics with a specialization in Health Economics  at Dalhousie University. Her past research has included the economic impact of  migration of health professionals and the sustainability of international financing institutions such as the Global Fund. Since joining the IWK Health Centre, Sharon’s research interests are the economic costs of health interventions and out-of-pocket expenses for families during a child’s medical treatment.


Karen Archibald, LPN, BA - Research Assistant
Karen completed her Bachelor of Arts at Mount Saint Vincent University with an honors in Peace and Conflict and Women's Studies. Karen has professional experience in nursing and research, as well as experience in managing her own business. She has a strong passion for contributing to health care improvements through research. Currently, Karen is working on the perioperative preparedness project in children.

      


Katherine Mifflin, Undergraduate Student - Research Assistant

Katherine is currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University in Neuroscience/Psychology. She has gained research experience while  working at the Centre for Pediatric Pain studying preoperative preparedness for  children undergoing ambulatory surgery. She is currently working on obtaining her honours  in neuroscience, focusing on the examination of possible memory impairment in children suffering from chronic pain.
