Research interests: pain in pediatric critical care, advance care planning for children with life limiting illness, palliative care/bereavement followup, knowledge translation and support for health care professionals to implement evidence into practice Thesis Topic: Caring for critically ill children and their families: Using appreciative inquiry to examine supportive care in the PICU

Clinical experience: I have worked as a bedside nurse in both pediatric medicine and in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Helen's research interests are centered in the pain in child health domain. Her objective is to understand how we support nurses to facilitate optimal management for procedures known to cause pain. She hopes to focus her future research on the assessment, management and knowledge translation of research in the area of pediatric pain.

Thesis Topic: Neonatal Palliative Care: Interprofessional Communication and Collaboration

Jennifer graduated May 2002 with a Bachelor of Nursing from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She began her nursing career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the IWK Health Centre. It was through her clinical experience in the NICU that she became interested in neonatal palliative care. She currently works as a Professional Development Coordinator at the IWK Health Centre where she works with a variety of care teams and disciplines.
